It’s been a while since I have done a blog as I have been enjoying the off season which included a great trip to Hawaii. I had never been there before so it was a nice two week break and got to enjoy all things “Hawaii”, including a failed attempt at Hula dancing.
After my return it was definitely straight back into training for the Shick Hydro Coolangatta Gold and upcoming Kellogg’s Nutri Grain Series. The Gold this year will be a huge test with the women contenting the full 42km (the first time in history) and I expect it to be the hardest race I have ever done. Training over the course has taught me a lot but there is nothing that can compare to the actual race.
This Friday night I will be attending the Queensland Sportswomen of the Year Awards in Brisbane and it is going to be a fantastic night. For me it will be a chance to meet some great champions and sporting legends, including Layne Beachley who is the guest speaker. In particular I want to thank Womensport Queensland for including me in the night and also wish the finalists for the 2013 Queensland Sportswoman of the Year Award – Cate Campbell (swimming), Jodie Fields (cricket), Laura Geitz (netball), Karen Murphy (rugby league) and Clare Polkinghorne (soccer), every success on the night.
This weekend is the Kellogg’s Nutri Grain trial at Salt beach and I know there will be some very talented and determined athletes on the start line vying for the few positions up for grabs this year. I would like to wish everyone the very best of luck during the racing.
And lastly a big thanks to my new sponsors Gold Coast SsangYong and Bruce Lynton, I am just loving my Ssangyong Korando. It is a great drive, very economical and looks fantastic. If you want a great deal on a new car think about a Ssangyong from Bruce Lynton Prestige Motors, Minnie street, Southport.
