To do well in your sport sometimes takes a lot of courage when you have to do something that might not be what your friends would like you to do. When I was at High School I was bullied because I chose to miss some social activities, including parties and even “schoolies”, because I had a goal to do well in my sport. At the time I was not cool with my peers and I felt very alone, but I survived, because the success I achieved away from the school environment allowed me to grow in confidence, self belief and strength of purpose to move ahead with my life and chase my dreams.
Looking back I now understand that people, who aren’t happy in themselves, like to bring others down, because they are resentful of anyone who is enjoying life and doing what they love.
