Sawtell’s Courtney Hancock had a disastrous round in Newcastle being acrimoniously knocked out of the third round of the Kellogg’s Ironwoman series in Newcastle.
Hancock fell off her ski in the second leg of the first race to fall to the back of the pack and despite her best efforts could only finish the race in 19th position.
The round’s eliminator format saw competitors compete in three races with the bottom six from each round eliminated.
Hancock said that she was disappointed with her result but stated she would quickly move onto next week’s round in Perth.
“Once I fell off my ski there wasn’t much I could do, now it’s just about focusing on getting a better result next round,” Hancock said.
“I have always been taught you have to take the winning with the losing so I will look to bounce back in Perth.”
Courtney’s sister, Bonnie Hancock also had an afternoon to forget after finishing in 17th position.
Despite Bonnie’s strong finish last round in Portsea, her tough afternoon has seen her match her equal worst result in the series.
The Hancock sisters will travel to Perth on Monday to prepare for next weekend’s marathon format Ironwoman round four at Scarborough beach.
