I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and is looking forward to the New Year. This year I spend Christmas Day on the Gold Coast with my family and friends before we all packed up for a short holiday to my home town of Sawtell. Its really nice to get away and recharge the batteries, especially after the last few months of racing.
The last five weeks I have been racing the Kelloggs Nutri Grain series in Perth (Rd 1 and 2), closely followed by Newcastle (Rd 3-5). I was very fortunate to come away with a lead over Liz Pluimers and Kristyl Smith going into the last round which is to be held at Coolum on the 23rd February 2014.
Another big milestone of my career happened this month and am very honored to be the first girl ever to grace the Kellogg’s Nutri Grain cereal box. This has been a dream of mine ever since I was a young girl / nipper and would like to thank Kellogg’s for the opportunity.
I was also lucky enough be on the cover the Ultra Fitness Magazine for the January edition with an article on my fitness, lifestyle and racing. A big thanks to Ultra Magazine (make sure to pick up a copy from all good retailers).
At the end of this month I will be competing for the Queensland Team in the Interstate Champions held at Newport Beach, NSW. I really look forward to the challenge and hopefully the team can bring home the championship.
On sad note I would like to acknowledge my sister Bonnie, who this month decided to retire from the sport. It has been great to have such a strong ally when it comes to training and racing. Bonnie has been there since we were kids in Sawtell just mucking around on nipper boards and have cherished the time we have spent together as friends, training partners and more importantly……..sisters. I love you Bon and look forward to all that will become of you outside the sport.
Finally I would like to wish everyone happy and safe New Year celebrations, and look forward to seeing you on the beach.
