IT will be back to the future for Sawtell product Courtney Hancock as the reigning Ironwoman champion and current series leader returns to the site of her first ever competitive event.

The third round of the 2011-12 Ironwoman travels to Newcastle and Hancock is looking forward to getting back to where it all began.

“Newcastle will always hold a special place in my heart as it was the first round of my first Ironwoman season,” Hancock said.

“Newcastle is always a great place to compete and hopefully I can continue my good run of form.”

Hancock has silenced all her doubters with victory in the first two rounds of the series and says she is looking to make it three in a row.

“There was a lot of talk last year how I won the series without claiming an individual event win so it is good to finally get the monkey off my back,” she said.

“Newcastle is an eliminator format which the fans love and always offers a tough race for all the girls.

“It will be very tactical and should bring out some really great racing.”
